Can Market Reforms Curb the Expansion of Industrial Land?—Based on the Panel Data Analysis of Five National-Level Urban Agglomerations

As China entered marketization in the late 1980s, it soon established a market economy system and implemented tax-sharing reforms. Driven by marketization, local governments have rapidly developed under pressure of fiscal competition caused reform system. Industrial land is an important factor economic development, enables to invest heavily industrial sector promote leading urban expansion. In order shed light on relationship between reforms Chinese government expansion land, this paper used data 77 prefecture-level cities China’s five national-level agglomerations as research samples from 2007 2018. We first constructed rate (MIL) panel model examine whether China′s will curb land. The results showed that: (1) can restrain scale expansion, impact different agglomerations; (2) effect foreign direct investment (FDI) has restrained certain extent. amount (AII), ratio secondary industry GDP structure (RSG), number enterprises (NIE) aggravate suggest that should deepen develop differentiated mechanism.
